As you look out today, are you staring at a battlefield, or a country club grounds? It is time for us to realize we are living in a battlefield. It is time for us to drop our country club mentality and take up our weapons to stand firm for The Kingdom. When you joined the church did you join a country club or an army? Ron Luce in his book entitled Battle Cry for a Generation shares these comparisons between a club and an army.

Our commitment to Altamesa and to the community of believers can not be about approving minutes and enjoying a cup of coffee at the club, but we have to believe we are going to make a difference on the battlefield of life. It is time that we start preparing ourselves with serving in the church and the community.
Ron continues by saying when you join a club, “people often have to be cajoled into staying involved (“Please help us with the fundraiser this month”) or they have to be begged to come back (“we’ll try to keep you happy and entertained—really!”).
What has been your attitude at church lately, are you willing to be involved to make a difference in your community, or are you finding things that just aren’t up to the way you want things to be.
Are you prepared to go into battle committed to standing arm in arm with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Luce sums it up in the book with these words, “My Point: Jesus didn’t give his life to start a social club; his church was meant to be an army. If this is the case, then we are to be soldiers, enlisted men and women.”
Are you ready to join the battle?
