Unexpected: the Promise is here

God’s story of Advent – the coming of the Messiah – is meant to re-center us through a season of holy hope, peace, joy, and love. In the midst of stresses, preoccupations, and overflowing scheduled commitments, Advent is an invitation to release ourselves from the cultural turmoil and find rest in the hands of God. The main focus of our Advent season this year will be considering this truth: God’s work tends to bubble up in places where we least expect it. This has always been a faithful attribute of God. The question is, when God does show up in unexpectant ways, will we trust him? Will we be willing to surrender our lives to God’s care and control? Join us for this sacred season of hope, reflection, and great joy.

WHAT IS ADVENT?

Advent is a four-week season in the Church calendar dedicated to anticipating the arrival, or "advent," of Jesus of Nazareth, the long-awaited Messiah and King. Christians from many backgrounds celebrate this time with reflections on hope, peace, love, and joy. At Altamesa we spend the Advent season reflecting, worshipping, and giving back.
