Altamesa Partners with Harris Hospital Parish Nursing

Altamesa is happy to announce our partnership with Harris Hospital Parish Nursing Program.

What is Parish Nursing? Parish nursing is an integration of FAITH with the practice of NURSING to promote the health of the congregation. Our mission is to serve others in God's name through love, compassion and the promotion of healthy living, and for His glory.

Joan Stokes RN, has completed initial Parish Nurse training. Sylvia Austin RN, has recently furthered her training with 37 hours of education in Parish Nursing. Graduation and pinning was June 9th.

Our Parish Nurses are asking the church family to complete a survey today.

Our focus is primary prevention by:

• Assessing health needs by a congregational survey.
• Harris offers health related classes. Parish nurses organize and bring these classes to their church family.
• Provide patient teaching brochures regarding health related diseases and issues.
• Visit and support church family through illness and or surgery.
• Referrals to services to the community.
• Pray with church family about health concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Parish Nurses do not prescribe or supply medication or professional counseling.
