Basic Progress

Jay Holland brings the light of God's grace into broken lives where the need for forgiveness and change is sorely felt. (BasicProgress.org)

Basic Progress Ministries emerged over the past fifteen years as Jay Holland found pathways of healing from a life characterized by shame, bitterness and self absorption. As questions regarding God took precedence, Jay completed a BS in Pychology, an MA in Biblical Text, a Master of Divinity, and is currently a Doctorate of Ministry candidate at TCU in Pastoral Care and Pastoral Theology. While education has been significant to the development of BP, Jay says that the most valuable lessons he learned was long before he entered the academic world. It boils down to this simple truth: if we are not succeeding in business, marriage, relationships, or even in church, we need to take a look at ourselves and our personal relationship with God.

The core activity of Basic Progress Ministries is a group engagement with basic truths about life. Basic Progress is a spiritual experience. Any attempt to define it or explain it actually takes away from the reality of the Presence of God working in and through a gracefilled environment to produce healing and communal bonding for everyone involved. Phase 1, (seven sessions,) addresses the reality of personal responsibility within relationships. Phase 2, "Practical Truth," addresses the hope of Christian faith, specifically in terms of knowing God in an intimate and fulfilling way. The combination of Phases 1 & 2 is referred to as both "BP" and "Spiritual Boot Camp." This year, Basic Progress Ministries will offer weekend seminars for marriage and couples as well as for singles. A special weekend addressing Spiritual Warfare is also being developed.

Over the past seven years over 600 men and women have been restored or converted to God’s Grace through Christ. This past year, Basic Progress offered eleven cycles with eighty one individuals finishing both Phase 1 and Phase 2. Altamesa Church of Christ will host the first 2005 cycle beginning on Tuesday, February 8 @ 6:30. You are invited to participate with us in this cutting edge approach to resolving your most serious of issues concerning life, parenting, addiction, relationships and God.
