Michael Thames and Altamesa work with Fortress Youth Development Center near downtown Fort Worth, providing opportunities for inner city children and youth to experience powerful life change in order to become productive Christian adults
Providing opportunities for inner city children and youth to experience powerful life change in order to become productive Christian adults. The kids who were able to attend earned this field trip by reaching their goals in the Fortress Literacy Center. Some of these goals included literacy lab lessons, behavior (points system) and silent reading.
As you may know, Fortress interns serve and pour their hearts out for our children, youth & community all summer long and raise their own support (as is the nature of missions) to do so! They reflect the love of Jesus to our neighborhood & the mission groups who volunteer throughout the summer. Fortress could not operate a summer program without these dedicated young adults.Summer interns arrive in late May and serve through Mid-August.
Host families are asked to provide sleeping arrangements (extra room, study etc) and dinner Monday - Thursday & access to meals on the weekends.
If you live in Fort Worth or the surrounding area, please prayerfully consider blessing a college student this summer w/ your home.
Volunteers needed for the Fortress Literacy Center after school program from 3:00 – 7:45 P.M.. Please contact Kristen Guillory at 817-335-1007 or KristenSPAMFILTER@fwydc.org
