Experience Altamesa

Welcome to Altamesa

What to expect when you visit

Here at Altamesa, we want you to know the moment you arrive that you are our honored guest. We hope that you experience the presence of God evidenced through a welcoming atmosphere, friendly people, a challenging message, and a worship assembly that not only brings glory to God, but is edifying to all those who are present. It is our desire to EXPERIENCE the power of God at work within and through us, and we hope that you will come expecting to share in that experience.

You can expect our Sunday morning worship assemblies to be a time focused on encountering the presence of the one true God. It is our desire that you will experience new hope when you join us for this time of praise and an inspiring message. Our endeavor in this hour on Sunday mornings is to create an atmosphere where many people struggling on the same journey can come together and find peace away from a world that does not seem to slow down and direction for entering back into that world.

Altamesa is a place where you can wear what you want to wear. No need to deck yourselves or the kids out in fancy suits. We are more concerned about meeting your real life needs than what you wear. Just show up with an open heart and receive God’s love.

Altamesa understands how important your kids’ safety is to you. So we commit to use volunteers who have your kids’ safety in mind, but can also lead your child in a fun study of God’s word. We ask that you sign your children in with a special sticker, and only the parent with the matching label can pick your child up. This ensures the children get to the proper place and the safety of your child is met.

Each Sunday morning at 9 A.M. you can join our Senior Minister for Welcome Class. The Welcome Class is a place to learn more about the Church of Christ and about ACC specifically. This is a great class if you grew up in the church or this is your first church experience.

On most Sundays, we host a Welcome Lunch for our guests immediately following the morning worship assembly. Several of our small groups host this luncheon each week, providing a great opportunity for our guests to meet people from the church family and learn more about Altamesa. The food is great, too! We are blessed with a professional chef who prepares these meals each week. We hope that you will plan to enjoy this meal with us when you visit.

As for our guests, we don’t ask you to feel as though you have to give during the offering. Each Sunday we take the Lord’s Supper to remember Christ’s’ death, burial, and resurrection. This is an open time of confession and you are invited to take part with us. Also we will ask you to fill out our guest information. This information is kept private and only used to provide you more information about our church.

Belief Statements

1. We believe in one God and Father of us all. God is creator, is creating still, and is sovereign in all ways through all time. All of God's names are relevant today: He is Redeemer, Provider, Healer, Righteousness, and Most High. He is Jehovah Lord.

2. We believe Jesus Christ, the one and only son of God, is the sole source of salvation and is a servant to all people. He is our model for imitation. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people. We believe Jesus is coming again. This hope for the future defines who we are today.

Values

A list of values answers the question, “What is most important to us?” They also motivate and inspire us.

Strongest Value: Love

Core Values:

  • Community of Believers
  • Equipping
  • Faith
  • Following
  • Giving
  • Grace
  • Prayer
  • Social Justice
  • Transformation
  • Unity
  • Witnessing
  • Worship

Vision

A vision statement is a word picture of a future that will exist when God’s will is followed and our mission is accomplished.

Altamesa is a church where loving God is the first priority in every decision we make, and loving people is the first priority in every action we take.

Mission

A mission statement reflects our commitment to make the most of the opportunities God gives us. It answers three questions: What is our purpose? How do we reach for the vision? For what, in the end, do we want to be remembered?

We exist to bring glory to our Creator, who loves us and equips us to serve. We love each other and we give our community an eye-witness account of God’s love.

Goals

These are the broad, measurable outcomes we anticipate based on our values, vision, and mission.

  • Glorify God and live the “Jesus inspired life”
  • Introduce people to Jesus
  • Using the gifts God gives, help members become ministers and missionaries
  • Connect with one another in small groups
  • Open our hearts and minds to The Word of God
  • Godly stewardship of all resources
