Some of our adult Bible classes are starting new things January 4th.
Chapel Class: Jesus in the Gospel of John: Identity, Mission, and Power. The Gospel of John, sometimes called the “Maverick Gospel,” offers a distinct portrayal of Jesus' identity, his mission, and his life-giving power. In this series we will unpack John’s unique narrative and theological depth, explore key themes and crucial dialogues, and outline John’s distinctive portrayal of Jesus and his mission. In this video series from Seminary Now, Dr. Marianne Meye Thompson, author, theologian, and professor, will be our guide as she helps us discover Jesus’ identity, the meaning of his “I Am” saying, and the significance of his “sign” as manifestations of divine glory and power.
Tribe Class: Roots: Old Testament Essentials. Christians love the Bible, but they often do not know what to do with the Old Testament. Jesus made a point to tell his disciples that the whole Old Testament anticipated his coming (see especially Luke 24:25–27, 44–45). We will begin to discover the links between the two testaments and gain a fuller sense of our unfolding salvation history. In this class we will use resources from professor Tremper Longman as he presents a comprehensive overview that will enrich our knowledge and deepen our faith and get back to the roots of the Bible that Jesus and the early Jews read.
