Walking in Green Pastures: growing in the fullness of Psalm 23

Walking in Green Pastures: growing in the fullness of Psalm 23

Series Description: The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. The intriguing images portrayed in Psalm 23 are well-known to Bible readers and non-Bible readers; however, few have experienced for themselves the vivid reality described by the author. Its poetic descriptions of dependency, trust, and love opens our imaginations to an abundant life with God. But first, we must bring ourselves to a place of reliance and trust. This is the foundation of our discipleship values: Live Dependent, Live Surrendered, Live Connected, Live Compassionate, and Live Prophetic. These values are embedded in the message of Psalm 23, and it begins with dependency. The truth is God cannot shepherd us if we choose to be self-reliant. Likewise, as a church family, we cannot be in beloved community together, if we continually choose to not walk into the pasture or lie down by the quiet water. So, as we walk with Jesus, he invites us into the field to become people who receive and develop the values described in the psalm, and then participate with God to share them with the world. Join us over the next five weeks as we consider how to become people who live a life with God...and lack nothing.
